SDG Translations - About Me

About Me

I have worked as a translator for over 20 years, specialising in clinical research, pharmaceutics and healthcare. I am an ISO certified Chartered Linguist (Chartered Institute of Linguists, CIOL) and a Fellow of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI). Besides a Diploma in Translation I hold a Foundation Course Certificate in Medicine and a Certificate in Medical Writing from Apollon University of Applied Sciences (Bremen, Germany) as well as a BA in Business Administration from the Technical University of Applied Sciences (Regensburg, Germany).

Before founding SDG Translations in 2000, I worked for a decade with several international organisations, including the United Nations Association, Oxford University and Nielsen, where I was involved in awareness-raising campaigns and market research projects. To this day, my translator practice benefits from the insights and experience gained during that time. I moved to the UK in 1991, after having completed my studies – originally for just 12 months. Over 30 years later I still live in my adopted country and was recently awarded British citizenship. Nevertheless, frequent visits to my old stomping ground in Bavaria remain a big part of my life and my work.

My motto? Language is one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon human beings. Over many years of translation practice and with a dedicated approach to continuing professional development, I have turned this gift into a finely tuned instrument. Helping my customers achieve the best outcomes with linguistic expertise is a challenge I find truly rewarding.
